Geo contributions
"The Group on Earth Observations (GEO), established in February 2005 by the Third Earth Observation Summit, is an intergovernmental partnership of more than 100 national governments and over 100 Participating Organisations.
GEO works to ensure that decisions and actions for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth Intelligence.
Its Post-2025 Strategy, “Earth Intelligence for All”, aims to move from Earth observation data access toward user-driven, integrated products and services that inform decisions and empower society"

Long-standing GEO engagement
My engagement with GEO dates back to its early years. It includes contributions to capacity-building activities from 2008, six years on the GEO Programme Board, support to flagship implementation, experts assigned to the GEO Secretariat, and active participation through French and European delegations.
I contributed, with IRD and French Ministry of research and innovation support, to the secondment and funding of two experts to the GEO Secretariat: Michel Deshayes, in support of GEOGLAM, and Laurent Durieux, on Earth Observation for the Sustainable Development Goals. This was complemented by active involvement in French and European delegations.
Since 2017, Data Terra has also acted as one of France’s major contributions to GEO, by providing a distributed ecosystem of environmental data, services, expertise and infrastructures aligned with GEO’s principles of openness, interoperability, science-based cooperation and service to users.
